7/4/2024 Fishing Report

We hope everyone has plans for an awesome 4th of July weekend!  If those plans include some fishing, let us offer up our suggestions.  Now that sockeye and kings are closed, and pinks are still not quite in the options are somewhat limited.  With the little bit of rain we had it would not be too surprising if a few chums have started to move into Cowee, Fish and Montana Creeks.

Sheep Creek officially has chums in it and Dollies staging behind them.  Try pink streamers, but if the Dollies aren't targeting them, throw a bead.  Bead season is likely right around the corner so I would not hesitate to give them a shot this weekend.  Try using super fresh egg colors.  With low water I would start with an 8mm and then try a 10mm if that doesn't work.

The last report we had out the road was it was slow.  It sounds like Amalga and the Shrine are relatively void of chums.  Echo Cove has a couple pinks here and there, but the big schools are not around just yet.  Lena still has chums around, as well as some kings here and there.

Stay safe out there this long weekend and don't forget to send us some fish photos!

As always, we love featuring your photos for our fishing reports.  If you have a great fish, scenery, or action photo that has to do with fishing around town send it our way!  You can email photos or videos to cory@alaskaflyfishinggoods.com.  Please remember to handle fish with care, especially if you are practicing catch and release.  Consider getting a net with a rubber basket to help land fish quickly, pinch your barbs and keep them in the water until you are ready to snap a quick photo.

See you on the water!
